Himachal government ignores Mahakumbh Yatra, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur expressed displeasure
Shimla, February 13: In a statement issued from Shimla, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has accused the Himachal Pradesh government of ignoring the travel of devotees for Mahakumbh. He said that lakhs of devotees from all over the country and the world are reaching Prayagraj for bathing in the ongoing Mahakumbh, in which thousands of people from Himachal are also joining every day. But, the state government has not made any special arrangements for the convenience of the devotees, due to which people have to travel by private buses and taxis at expensive fares.
“Did not even arrange buses for the devotees”
Jairam Thakur said that the Himachal government did not make any arrangement to send HRTC buses for Mahakumbh, due to which the devotees are facing a lot of trouble. He said, “The government should have taken care of the convenience of the devotees of the state on this holy occasion, but it was ignored.”
“HRTC could also have got huge financial benefit”
He further said that HRTC had sufficient buses available, which could have been run as special service for Mahakumbh. This would not only have provided cheap and safe travel to the devotees, but Himachal Transport Corporation (HRTC) would also have got financial benefit of crores. But the government did not take any such step.
“Indifference despite Hindu population”
The Leader of Opposition alleged that despite Himachal having 97% Hindu population, the government did not provide any facility to the devotees for the Mahakumbh Yatra. He said that the Congress government is adopting such an attitude to please its high command, due to which thousands of devotees of the state are being deprived of the virtue of Mahakumbh.
“Devotees had to bear trouble”
He also said that the devotees had to travel by private vehicles at arbitrary prices, due to which they had to bear the financial burden. Many private buses also became victims of accidents, which has also raised questions on the safety of passengers.
“The government should have made special arrangements”
Jairam Thakur said that on a holy occasion like Maha Kumbh, the government should have arranged for special bus services so that the devotees can reach Prayagraj easily. He demanded from the government to provide special buses for the convenience of the devotees as soon as possible so that the people of the state can take advantage of the Maha Kumbh bath.
