Dharamshala: Workshop on ‘Safe Internet Day’, awareness on safe and responsible internet use is necessary
Dharamshala, February 11: Safe and responsible use of the internet is in everyone’s interest. Widespread awareness among people is necessary to avoid cyber crime and other dangers related to misuse of the internet. District Magistrate Kangra Hemraj Bairwa expressed these sentiments while presiding over the workshop organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday on ‘Safe Internet Day’. He said that Safe Internet Day is celebrated every year on the second Tuesday of February to increase awareness and promote safe and responsible use of the internet. The main objective of the workshop is to spread awareness among all about the use of the internet in a safe manner.
The DC said that whether any technology is a boon or a curse depends on its use. He said that similarly, if the internet is used safely and responsibly, then it is a great boon in today’s time. He said that no technology is good or bad, but its significance is proved by the way it is used. He said that today, in view of the utility of the internet, its correct use is very important. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of safe use of the Internet and awareness among all about cyber threats in the workshop. He said that there is a great need today to make people aware about the correct use of the Internet.
On this occasion, District Informatics Officer (NIC) Akshay Mehta gave a detailed presentation on ‘Safe Internet’ and the importance of cyber security in today’s digital world. The participants were told about what to do and what not to do and their doubts were also resolved to promote a safe online environment. In the workshop, an in-depth discussion was also held with all the participants on safe use of the Internet and cyber security.
During this, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (Deputy Commissioner) Subhash Gautam and officers and employees of various departments were present.
