Trump strikes up a discussion regarding Putin and the circumstances in Ukraine

Suggesting he would “encourage” Russia to target NATO allies lacking sufficient defense expenditure, former President Trump has generated headlines all around. Officials from both the United States and abroad have harshly attacked his remarks made at a campaign event.

Particularly with relation to the continuous confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, Trump has also attacked Putin. Some see his comment as a warning that would compromise NATO’s unity as Ukraine fights against the Russian assault. 

Although Trump’s supporters say he is advocating justice in defense expenditure, his remarks could give Putin greater authority according to his detractors. The White House confirmed that the United States backs NATO and Ukraine’s independence.

Trump’s foreign policy concepts could affect international security given the approaching 2024 U.S. election.  Is this merely political rhetoric or may it be a preview of American future policy?
