Building Bridges: Assam & Arunachal’s New Symbol of Harmony
The long-running border issue between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam is gradually giving way to fraternity and harmony. To promote peace among their citizens, both state governments are taking action.In the Tirap area of Arunachal Pradesh, the Namghar and Heritage Center at Namsang is a striking illustration of this kind of project. Arunachal Pradesh Forest Minister Wanki Lowang, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi are spearheading this ambitious project, which has a ₹5 million budget, of which ₹2 crore has already been released.
The approach road was constructed by the Arunachal Pradesh government, which also donated three bighas of land. The work is being closely monitored by local officials, which is making the 80 Assamese families in the Deomali area happy.
Given that there are now just seven Numbers in the district, down from sixty, this project has cultural significance. The project was warmly received by the community, which saw it as a renewal of unity and tradition.
