The name of farmer Hariman Sharma, resident of Ghumarwin in ​​Bilaspur district of Himachal, is also included in the Padma awards. He is being given this award for producing apples in a hot area. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the area after the announcement of Hariman getting the Padma Shri award.

After eight years of research, gardener Hariman has developed the Harman 99 (HRMN-99) apple variety that grows in less cold areas. This variety of apple grows at an altitude of one thousand eight hundred feet, which Hariman has successfully grown in hot areas like Bilaspur where the temperature is 40 to 46 degrees Celsius.

Hariman Sharma said that this variety of apple has been planted by more than one lakh farmers with more than 14 lakh plants in India and other countries.

He said that he has been made a member of the state level executive committee of the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission of the state government and Dr. Y.S. Parmar Forestry and Horticulture University Nauni, Solan.

Hariman told that he has spent time in planting apple saplings by the orchardists of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Una, Mandi and Solan in the state as well as giving these saplings to orchardists in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Zambia and Germany and setting up orchards of more than one lakh farmers.

He told that apart from apples, he also plants mango, kiwi and pomegranate trees in his orchard.
