(Una) Himachal Pradesh, Kumud Sharma, January 26: Dilawar Khan, a fearless hero from Gharbasra village in Bangana tehsil of Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, has been posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his extraordinary bravery. Born in March 1996, Dilawar was serving in the 28th Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of the Indian Army when he made the ultimate sacrifice on 23 July 2024. During a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Lolab Valley of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, he exhibited unmatched courage at the age of just 28, defending the nation with his life.
Naik Dilawar Khan displayed unparalleled courage and valor during the encounter, confronting terrorists head-on and ultimately sacrificing his life for the nation. In recognition of his extraordinary bravery, the Government of India posthumously awarded him the Kirti Chakra. Following his martyrdom, on 25 July 2024, Dilwar Khan was laid to rest in his native village, Gharwasda, with full state honors, as a tribute to his selfless service and sacrifice.
The parents of martyr Dilawar Khan, Karmadin and Bholan Bibi, take immense pride in their son’s extraordinary sacrifice. In recognition of his bravery, Punjab National Bank (PNB) extended an insurance benefit of Rs 1 crore to support the family. Dilawar Khan’s courageous act will forever be etched in the nation’s memory. His story of sacrifice and valor will continue to inspire future generations, instilling a sense of patriotism and unwavering dedication to the country.
