Mandi Literacy and Public Development Committee stood first in creating micro insurance in Northern India
(Mandi) Himachal Pradesh, Kumud Sharma, January 22: Mandi Literacy and Public Development Committee has been authorized by the Life Insurance Corporation of India since the year 2009 and the committee is doing excellent work in the field of social security. For this work, the committee has also been given various awards for being at the top in the country and northern India.
Hemant Raj Vaidya, President of Mandi Literacy and Public Development Committee, said that till now the committee has opened insurance accounts of two lakh forty seven thousand eight hundred and fifty three adults, in which one thousand three hundred and fifteen workers have contributed.
Administration, Panchayati Raj institutions, Mahila Mandals and self-help groups have played an important role in this work.
The committee has given a grant of twenty crore rupees for ‘Insurance Village’ to 553 villages by the Life Insurance Corporation of India.
Till now two thousand one hundred and thirty three death claims of families have been received, under which the affected families have received assistance amount of Rs 10.76 crore. He said that its target is to open fifteen thousand new accounts, out of which the committee has opened eleven thousand five hundred accounts.
Hemant Raj Vaidya, President, (Literacy and Public Development Committee Mandi) told Diary Times, “Since 2009, Life Insurance Corporation of India has authorized Mandi Literacy and Public Development Committee for micro insurance work and we have resolved the death claims of about two thousand one hundred and fifty three people and the assistance amount of about 10.76 crores has been given to the affected families.”
