Shimla: 43 employees fired from National Law University Ghandal, employees protested under the banner of CITU
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), January 21: 43 employees who were fired from their jobs by National Law University Ghandal in Shimla staged a sit-in protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office under the banner of CITU today.
They allege that the university has fired them in a biased manner without any notice.
They have demanded the state government’s intervention in this matter.
CITU state president Vijendra Mehra said that firing a daily wage earner is unfortunate.
He said that the university administration has fired them without any notice, which is totally wrong.
Vijendra Mehra told Diary Times, “The unfortunate situation is that the workers who were continuously giving their services there for the last several years, even for five-six years, were working very honestly, were working diligently, were working with devotion, but the new administration that came there fired these workers and who are these people? These are the poorest people. Among these workers there are cleaning staff, security staff as well. Among these workers there are also hostel attendants. Among these workers there are also technical staff who are carpenters, electricians, welders, people who do technical work, but now the way they have been fired from the job in a hurry, we want to say on behalf of CITU that this is a policy of hire and fire. The policy of hire and fire is not applicable in our country. Hire and fire means that you come to duty yesterday evening and the next day morning you are fired from the job. This is not the law of our country.”
