Ration cards of 45 thousand families blocked due to lack of e-KYC, ration will not be available from depots until e-KYC is done
(Shimla) Himachal Pradesh, Sourabh Jaiswal, January 21: Ration cards of about forty five thousand families of Himachal Pradesh have been blocked due to lack of e-KYC. In such a situation, now these ration card holders will not get ration in ration depots until e-KYC is done.
There are many consumers in the state whose family members live either abroad or in other states of the country. Due to lack of e-KYC of any one member of the family, this member has been temporarily blocked from the ration card. In such a situation, now the ration of the quota of this one member will not be available while ration will continue for other members.
Shimla’s (District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs) Narendra Dhiman said that the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has also prepared a mobile application through which people living abroad and in other states of the country can get e-KYC done sitting at home.

E-KYC will be free with this application, after which the blocked ration cards will be unblocked and consumers will be able to avail the facility of cheap ration at the depot again like before.
He told that apart from this, ration cards can also be unblocked through Lok Mitra Kendras.
Narendra Dhiman told Diary Times that, “Lok Mitra Kendras have also been allowed for e-KYC but even after that the percentage of e-KYC did not increase. Then a mobile application has also been launched by the department ‘e-KYC PDS HPA’. By downloading it any person can get his e-KYC done through mobile free of cost within one minute. Some people were not getting e-KYC done even after repeated requests. So the department decided that such consumers who are not getting their e-KYC done should be blocked or blocked temporarily and as soon as they get their e-KYC done, we will get the information and they will be immediately unblocked and their entitlement will continue to be given to them.”
