Shimla, (Himachal Pradesh) [India], January 11 (Diary Times): The Shimla Municipal Corporation, alongside the Tourism Department, is taking steps to create six exclusive cycle tracks aimed at encouraging eco-friendly travel and fostering healthier living habits. The planned routes will connect key locations, including Rani Jhansi Park to Jakhu, and CTO to Summerhill, passing through Himachal Pradesh University, making cycling an accessible and attractive mode of transport.

During a meeting with Tourism Department officials on Friday, Mayor Surender Chauhan outlined the exciting new initiative to develop dedicated cycling tracks in Shimla. He highlighted the project’s goal of making cycling a practical choice for both residents and tourists. “We have received approval for six routes and are actively working to bring this vision to life. Ongoing discussions with the project director will help fast-track its implementation,” he explained.

In addition to the previously mentioned routes, the project will also feature cycling tracks from Ritz to Navbahar Chowk, Annandale, and Potterhill. To complement these tracks, the plan includes the installation of dedicated cycle stands, further enhancing the infrastructure and making cycling more accessible for everyone.

Although some of the proposed tracks require approval from the Forest Department, the Municipal Corporation remains confident in its ability to complete the required formalities and move the project forward without unnecessary delays.

This initiative is poised to alleviate traffic congestion while boosting Shimla’s allure as a prime tourist spot. With its picturesque landscapes and rugged terrain, the city could soon transform into a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts.
