Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) [India], January 10 (Diary Times): The Kullu district administration has ramped up its efforts to tackle illegal encroachments, demolishing more than 190 unauthorized structures across Manikaran and its neighboring areas, such as Chhalal and Katgala. In a similar push within Kullu city, over 46 illegal constructions have been dismantled as part of this ongoing crackdown aimed at restoring order and ensuring proper land use.

Vikas Shukla, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kullu, revealed that notices have been served to 28 owners of homestays, hotels, and dhabas in the Manikaran valley for operating without the necessary registration. The administration has requested formal responses from these business owners and cautioned that non-compliance will lead to further action in line with existing regulations.

A dedicated joint committee, led by the district administration, is at the forefront of investigating roadside encroachments. The committee is made up of key officials from multiple departments, including the Public Works Department, Revenue Department, Jal Shakti Department, Forest Department, Tourism Department, Pollution Control Board, and the Electricity Board, all working collaboratively to address the issue.
