Una, January 02: The Himachal Pradesh Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB) began the new year with a significant crackdown on corruption, arresting a Forest Range Officer red-handed while accepting a bribe. Forest Ranger Avinash Kumar, who was posted in Amb, Una district, was apprehended for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The operation was conducted on January 1, 2025, and was confirmed through a press release issued by the Bureau’s spokesperson earlier today. According to the spokesperson, the arrested officer had demanded the bribe from Surendra Singh and Rajat Guleria, residents of Dadasiba in Kangra district, in exchange for releasing vehicles that had been seized. Following the incident, the Vigilance Bureau has registered a case at the Una police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
