Shimla, January 02: MLA Sanjay Awasthy praised the Congress government for its commitment to job creation, stating that in just two years, the government has provided 31,000 government jobs to the people of Himachal Pradesh. Awasthy criticized former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, accusing him of misleading the public with false claims. He called on Thakur to answer for the performance during his five years in office, pointing out that only 20,000 jobs were created under the previous BJP government during its entire tenure.

Awasthy explained that the jobs under the BJP government were mired in legal complications, leaving the youth of the state deceived. However, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the Congress government took swift action and resolved the legal hurdles, ensuring that the youth of Himachal Pradesh were provided with government employment.

In addition to government jobs, Awasthy highlighted the state government’s efforts to encourage self-employment through schemes like the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-up Yojana, which is a ₹680 crore initiative providing self-employment opportunities for the youth.

Awasthy also criticized BJP leaders for not taking a proactive stance in Delhi to advocate for the interests of Himachal Pradesh, especially regarding the funds pending with the central government. He pointed out that nearly ₹10,000 crore, meant for disaster-affected areas, is still pending from the central government, as well as ₹9,000 crore related to NPS, both of which remain unresolved. Awasthy urged BJP leaders to focus on raising these important issues with the central government to secure the rightful dues for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
