Strategic Partnership Aims to Enhance Road, Bridge, and Building Development in the State
Shimla, 27 December: In a significant move to boost the technical capabilities of the state’s infrastructure projects, the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar. The partnership will see IIT Ropar providing specialized technical assistance for the design, construction, and maintenance of key infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings across Himachal Pradesh.
The MoU was formally introduced during a two-day workshop held at IIT Ropar, which began on Thursday. The event focused on improving road infrastructure and developing innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by frequent landslides in the region’s hilly terrain. Engineers from the Himachal Pradesh PWD actively participated in the workshop, engaging in technical discussions and learning new strategies to enhance infrastructure resilience.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who was the chief guest at the workshop, announced the collaboration and emphasized the importance of incorporating cutting-edge technology in the construction process. “The state government is fully committed to the development of Himachal Pradesh, ensuring that there will be no compromise on the quality of work in the Public Works Department. We aim to adopt new technologies to meet the modern demands of infrastructure development,” Singh stated on his social media platforms.
