Shimla – The Himachal Pradesh government is preparing to unveil a new, all-encompassing policy aimed at streamlining the process of compassionate employment for the dependents of deceased employees. This policy seeks to resolve all outstanding cases in one go, ensuring that eligible individuals receive the support they are entitled to. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made this announcement during a high-level meeting, reiterating the government’s strong commitment to assisting the families of those who have passed away in service.

As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister instructed government officials to compile detailed data on applicants, organizing it by department, age, and educational qualifications. This data will serve as the foundation for developing the new policy, which is expected to be reviewed in a follow-up meeting on January 10, 2025.

“We are taking a compassionate and thoughtful approach to assist the dependents of deceased employees, particularly widows and orphans. This policy will ensure they receive the benefits they deserve,” said Chief Minister Sukhu. He emphasized that the policy aims to strike a balance between offering maximum support to eligible families and ensuring transparency and efficiency throughout the process.

To oversee this initiative, the state government has set up a Cabinet Sub-Committee. The committee will be led by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, with Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani and Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma as members. Their role will be to review pending applications and recommend the best course of action to ensure the new policy is both effective and fair.
