Snowfall Expected in Himachal Pradesh Before New Year
Western Disturbance to Bring Snow and Rain Across the State
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is set to break its long spell of drought as a Western Disturbance is expected to bring heavy rainfall and snowfall to the region before the New Year. According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall is predicted to occur on December 27 and 28, particularly in the high-altitude and intermediate areas of the state.
Popular hill stations like Shimla and Manali are likely to witness snowfall, along with other key regions such as Kullu, Rohtang Pass, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur. Additionally, the plains of Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive substantial rainfall, much awaited after three months of dry conditions.
Earlier in December, on the 8th, light snowfall was recorded in the hilly areas, signaling the beginning of winter’s impact. The upcoming snow is anticipated to bring relief to both the environment and local communities, especially in areas relying on the winter weather for agricultural benefits and tourism. The forecast indicates a promising start to the winter season with the potential for picturesque landscapes in Himachal’s iconic locations.
