Airbags Prevent Major Casualty in Collision on Kalka-Shimla Highway
Scorpio and Car Collide, No Fatalities Reported, but Damage Occurs
Solan, 20 December: A collision between a Mahindra Scorpio and a car occurred on the Kalka-Shimla highway between Koti and Datyar in Himachal Pradesh. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, thanks to the timely deployment of airbags in the Scorpio, which significantly minimized the impact of the crash. While both vehicles sustained damage, the safety features prevented a major disaster.
According to reports, the Mahindra Scorpio (HR 13S 0008) was traveling from Chandigarh to Shimla when it was hit by a car (HP 28 A 5644) that was coming from the wrong direction. The collision occurred on a stretch of road undergoing construction, where diversion signboards are often either removed or not installed properly. This lack of clear signage has caused confusion among drivers, sometimes leading to dangerous situations, as evidenced by this accident.
