Shimla, December 16: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to take a loan of Rs 500 crore this month, with the funds set to be deposited into the state’s account on December 18. The Finance Department released an official notification regarding this loan in the state gazette on Monday.

The loan, which is to be repaid by the year 2036, will contribute to the growing debt burden of the state. Following this loan, the total outstanding debt of the Himachal Pradesh government is expected to surpass Rs 90,000 crore.

The move has raised concerns regarding the increasing fiscal pressure on the state’s finances, as the government continues to seek additional funds to cover its expenses and address various development and welfare needs.
