Shimla, December 16: In a significant move aimed at strengthening the educational framework, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that constitutional values will be integrated into the curriculum of government schools in Himachal Pradesh. This decision comes amidst ongoing debates surrounding the Constitution at the national level. During a review meeting on the functioning of the Education Department at the Secretariat on Monday, CM Sukhu instructed officials to include constitutional principles in the school syllabus to foster a deeper understanding among students.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that six schools in each assembly constituency would be upgraded with essential facilities, including staff, libraries, laboratories, and other required amenities. A comprehensive calendar for year-round activities will also be developed to enhance the educational experience.

In line with efforts to transform the education system, CM Sukhu emphasized the ongoing rationalization within the department, including the introduction of new subjects at the college level.

Additionally, the CM addressed the Guest Teacher Policy, stating that it would help maintain continuity in the teaching process. The policy ensures that in the absence of regular teachers, qualified guest teachers would be recruited to avoid disruptions in students’ learning. School heads will be responsible for notifying the department when a teacher is on leave to ensure proper staffing.
