The Food Safety Department in Solan district has raised concerns after samples of Paneer and Namkeen (Marodi) collected from Panjhera failed quality tests. The samples, taken in the last week of November, were sent to CTL Kandaghat for analysis, where the results revealed the Paneer sample to be sub-standard and the Namkeen to be misbranded. In response, the department has issued notices to the concerned shopkeepers, providing them with 30 days to submit necessary documents, including purchase bills.
Following the test results, further action will be taken depending on the shopkeepers’ compliance. However, not all samples were problematic—three other food items passed the quality checks.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Food Safety Department to ensure public health by monitoring food products sold in local markets.
The department is also intensifying its inspection efforts by conducting raids on food manufacturing companies and sending collected samples for testing in Chandigarh and Kandaghat.
To streamline these efforts, the department has organized two teams: one under the leadership of Food Safety Officer Anuj Sharma for the BBN area, and another under FSO Diksha Kapil for areas like Dharampur, Kumarhatti, Parwanoo and Subathu. These teams are regularly collecting and testing food samples to ensure that the quality and safety of food products meet required standards.
