Kullu, December 15 – A devastating fire broke out in the village of Rumali, located in Lafali Fati Buchhair Panchayat, Anni subdivision, reducing an eight-room residential house to ashes. The incident, which took place around 12:45 AM, left three brothers—Ramanand, Parmanand, and Moturam—homeless and without any possessions.
Fire Engulfs the Family’s Home
The house, which had been recently constructed, was made of wood and had its roof installed just last year. Tragically, the fire destroyed everything the family had worked so hard to build. Ramanand, Parmanand, and Moturam, whose livelihoods depend on labor work, now find themselves without shelter or means to replace their lost possessions. The fire left nothing behind but charred remains, wiping out all household items and personal belongings that had taken years to gather.
Efforts to Extinguish the Blaze
Upon receiving news of the fire, local authorities quickly responded. ASI of Anni Police, along with other law enforcement officials, arrived at the scene to assess the damage. The fire brigade was also summoned, with two fire trucks and several emergency personnel attempting to control the blaze. Despite their best efforts, the fire was so intense that the house could not be saved.
Community Comes Together in Support
By 1:35 AM, the incident had drawn the attention of several local leaders and community members. CITU convenor Anni Padam Prabhakar, along with the Panchayat Uppradhan and Ward Panchs of Lafali and Ladhagi, reached the site to offer their support to the devastated family. The community leaders assured the victims that assistance would be provided, and have since appealed for immediate relief for the affected family.

Appeal for Assistance and Relief
The residents of Rumali village, along with the victim’s family, have called on the local administration to provide swift financial assistance and support. The three brothers, now without shelter, have nowhere to turn for help and are urgently in need of a safe place to stay. With the bitter winter approaching, the community is particularly concerned for their well-being.
The administration has vowed to provide temporary relief to the family, with efforts underway to help them through this challenging time. An official inquiry into the cause of the fire has been ordered, though the investigation is still in its early stages.
A Call for Compassion
This tragedy highlights the vulnerability of families living in rural areas, where the loss of a home and livelihood can leave individuals facing immense hardship. In the face of such a disaster, the solidarity shown by the local community is heartening, yet the need for immediate action from the government and social organizations is critical. The three brothers and their family now need more than just sympathy—they require tangible support to rebuild their lives and regain a sense of stability.
As the authorities continue their efforts to aid the victims, the hope is that the community and the government will unite to offer much-needed assistance, ensuring that the family receives relief and does not face this hardship alone.
