Chief Minister Sukhu also took the opportunity to discuss the government’s recent initiatives to encourage the youth to pursue sports professionally. He mentioned that the state government has been actively promoting sports by offering various incentives, including cash prizes for international athletes. This is part of the government’s broader effort to recognize and reward the hard work of sportspersons, motivating them to excel and inspiring younger generations to follow in their footsteps.

The government’s support for athletes has been a driving force in boosting the sports culture in the state, and Sukhu’s administration is committed to fostering an environment where sports can thrive, free from the shadow of drug abuse.

5. The Need for Collective Efforts to Combat Drug Abuse

The theme of the tournament reflects the urgent need for collective action in tackling the escalating drug abuse crisis in Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister, along with the Governor, reiterated that sports, alongside education and community support, could be instrumental in curbing this growing issue.
