Kangra: Unprecedented growth in fisheries sector, 65 lakh fish seeds collected in Pong Lake

Kangra, 03 December: The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana has taken important steps towards realizing the Blue Revolution in India and there has been an unprecedented increase in production, productivity and income in the fisheries sector. In this series, 65 lakh fish seeds of different species have been collected in Pong Lake of Kangra district for the year 2024-25.

Vivek Chandel, Director of Himachal Pradesh Fisheries Department, said that till November 15 this year, two lakh 32 thousand 440 kg of fish has been produced from Pong Lake.

He said that this is the only reservoir in the country in which fishermen are getting the highest prices for their fish and these prices increase every year.
