Dr. Tarun Shridhar Appointed New Director General of ICFA, Shares Vision for Agricultural Growth
The Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) has appointed Dr. Tarun Shridhar, IAS (Retd.) and former Secretary, Government of India, as its new Director General. In his inaugural address, Dr. Shridhar shared his vision to drive growth, innovation, and sustainability in India’s food and agriculture sector, drawing upon his decades of experience in leadership and policy-making.
The Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) has appointed Dr. Tarun Shridhar, IAS (Retd.) and former Secretary, Government of India, as its new Director General. In his inaugural address, Dr. Shridhar shared his vision to drive growth, innovation, and sustainability in India’s food and agriculture sector, drawing upon his decades of experience in leadership and policy-making.
Dr. Shridhar, who retired five years ago as Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, expressed his deep commitment to the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors. “I am honored to join ICFA as the Director General, and I look forward to working alongside the newly constituted board, under the leadership of Shri Suresh Prabhu, to take the organization forward,” he said.
Under his leadership, ICFA is poised to strengthen its role as a global think tank and policy advocacy body, with a focus on farmers’ welfare and the broader agricultural community. Dr. Shridhar emphasized ICFA’s continued commitment to supporting farmers, addressing financial and infrastructure challenges, and ensuring that Indian agriculture remains competitive and sustainable on the global stage.
Dr. Shridhar assured ICFA members that the newly constituted board would prioritize the empowerment of farmers and work towards the development of Indian agriculture. “Our goal is to ensure that Indian agriculture grows in strength, contributing not only to the national economy but also to the global agricultural landscape,” he added.
Encouraging active participation, he invited stakeholders from the agriculture sector to engage with ICFA through its flagship events and exhibitions, contributing their suggestions, advice, and ideas for the continued progress of Indian agriculture. “I urge all of you to be proactive in your engagement with ICFA. Together, we can shape the future of Indian agriculture,” he concluded.
Dr. Shridhar’s appointment marks a significant step forward for ICFA, with his leadership expected to bring new energy and focus to the organization’s mission of advancing the agricultural sector in India and beyond.
