Kumud Sharma, Diary Times: The ruling Congress government of Himachal Pradesh is working towards connecting the youth with self-employment and setting up small and micro industries through drone-based technology and solar energy, under which Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder has announced to create employment opportunities for about 18000 youth in the drone and solar sector. During an important meeting of the state government focusing on the goal of “Green Himachal, Prosperous Himachal”, CM Sukhu has emphasized the importance of making the state self-reliant by the coming 2027 and the most prosperous state of the country by the coming 2032.
CM Sukhu said that through drone technology, focus is going to be on employment-oriented sectors along with construction, agriculture and logistics. To make drone training effective, the state government is going to start drone training courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), so that the youth of the state can create employment by setting up drone-based industry with the efforts of the government.
Terming renewable energy as the need of the future, CM Sukhu launched another important rooftop solar project to cover 10% of the 16 lakh sloping roof houses in the state, a positive decision to generate income opportunities for the residents of the state and increase the revenue coffers for the state government.
Every 100 solar roofs to be installed will directly create two jobs, generating self-employment.
The tourism sector, which contributes 7% to the state’s GDP, strengthens the pace of employment-oriented development.
Under the Rs 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Startup Yojana, the main reason for 50 percent subsidy on the purchase of e-vehicles is to connect the youth with enterprises in the tourism environment with a view to environmental protection.
With the immense potential of the tourism sector being explored, Himachal Pradesh wants to remain the best by disciplining the important relationship between environment and tourism.
Realising the growing responsibilities of the government on the ever-increasing exploitation of natural resources, CM Sukhu discussed the effectiveness of harnessing the utility of medium and small scale industries for the economic and revenue coffers of the state. He said, the main goal of the state is to make itself completely self-reliant by developing various technologies of innovation and sustainable thinking and to create a distinct identity along with prosperity in the entire country.
The CM clarified the commitment and said, “The sole vision of the state government is to inculcate the inspiration of a green, clean and prosperous state, where the priority of the youth increases as it should be in the hands of the youth to preserve the economy of the state and generate self-employment.”
