Foster Home of the Government Remains in Pieces
The Foster Home located in Panjri Shimla, a reason of a major headache for the struggling NGO’s at the grassroots in Shimla city, remains in pieces. The foster home had been built along with the Animal Birth Control Centre, where now the scene remains severely distorted with tall grass all around the place.
The reason for abandoning the sight, according to the employees of the sterilization centre were the loud noises that infuriated the villagers of the adjacent village during the night time. A few NGOs claim the site to be built on a Mortuary ground and the place to be haunted, withstrange noises coming out of the place.
The abandoning of the place has had a severe effect on the struggling NGOs that crowdfund the expenses of an ill animal and are limited with their funds. The volunteers that are associated with these NGOs need to keep these patients, either in the lobbies of their home, convincing their non-dog-loving parents, sometimes amidst of their important routine or exam schedule and have to wake up for the nights to save their furry friends.
The linkages between the government and the NGOs at ground also seem to be in dire straits. The current NGOs, named Vasumati: Voice of The Voiceless, run by Mrs.Vaishno, who independently keeps these ill animals at a private, non- licensed person’s place, Naresh, struggles hard to keep her work going. The NGO remains the only one NGO that is registered in the Societies and still lacks proper team and management.
The NGOs, first arrange the money, get the animal treated at either the State Veterinary Hospital or at Petcare, the mere private clinic in Shimla and then lastly have to struggle for caring for these animals at their own places. The other NGOs such as Tails and Tales, run by a CA, Aastha and Maittri, meet the same fate.
Seems like the government’s eyes are blind, or the connectivity btween authorities is merely on the paperwork, not actually.
