Shimla, November 19: In view of the rising pollution in Delhi, the Delhi government has allowed only electric, CNG and BS-6 standard buses to enter the capital. After this decision, operations of more than a dozen Volvo buses going from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi have been suspended. Out of 29 Volvo buses of HRTC, operations of 13 buses have been stopped from Tuesday till further orders. The wheels of these buses have stopped for now and they did not leave for Delhi on Tuesday.
According to HRTC officials, this decision has been taken as part of the measures taken by the Delhi government to control pollution. This has affected the operation of Volvo buses going from Himachal to Delhi, including the Shimla-Delhi 9.45 am Volvo bus, Hamirpur-Delhi Super Luxury Volvo 9 pm bus, Shimla-Delhi 9.30 pm and Rohru-Delhi 5 pm routes of Taradevi depot have been suspended. Apart from this, Volvo buses going to Delhi from Dalhousie, Chintpurni, Manali, Palampur, McLeod Ganj and Nalagarh have been stopped for the time being.
However, the movement of ordinary buses run by HRTC has not been affected. The corporation has sufficient number of BS-6 standard ordinary buses, due to which there was no effect on the route of these buses. No change was made in the operation of these buses and on Tuesday all the ordinary buses left for Delhi at their scheduled time. Giving information about this, HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur said that under the pollution control measures of the Delhi government, only electric, CNG and BS-6 buses are being allowed to enter Delhi.
HRTC does not have the availability of BS-6 super luxury Volvo buses, due to which those routes have been suspended for the time being. He said that all the bus station in-charges have been instructed to immediately provide information about the suspended routes to the passengers. Rohan Chand Thakur further said that there will be no impact on the routes of ordinary buses going to Delhi, because the number of buses with BS-6 engines in these buses is sufficient. However, changes are being made in the operation of super luxury Volvo buses and the corporation is working to solve this problem.
Meanwhile, the HRTC administration also informed that this step has been taken to control the traffic inside Delhi due to pollution. In such a situation, passengers are being appealed to get information about the status of the route before planning the journey. Actually, this step of the Delhi government has been taken in view of the serious situation of pollution, so that the air quality can be improved and the level of pollution can be reduced. However, this step may prove to be inconvenient for the passengers going to Delhi from hill stations, especially for those who travel by Volvo buses.
