Deepotsav featured performances by artistes from six countries, showcasing the spiritual, traditional and cultural essence of the holy city
New Delhi: Over 25 lakh earthen diyas were lit simultaneously at the grand Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh – a new world record. Over 28 lakh diyas were placed on the banks of the Saryu river, projecting a stunning golden glow when viewed from above.

The organisers had planned to light at least 28 lakh diyas; however, they managed to set a new world record by lighting exactly 25,12,585 diyas.

Deepotsav featured the spiritual, traditional and cultural essence of the holy city, showcasing performances by artistes from six countries – Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia – along with a Ramlila rendition from Uttarakhand. Apart from this, various artistes from different states performed at the event.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Deepotsav by performing aarti. He also pulled the chariot on which the artists of Ramayana were performing.

For Deepotsav this year, Saket Mahavidyalaya made 18 attractive tableaux, of which 11 were made by the Information Department and seven by the Tourism Department.

The Tourism Department’s tableaux showed scenes from Bal Kand, Ayodhya Kand, Aranya Kand, Kishkindha Kand, Sundar Kand, Lanka Kand and Uttar Kand taken from Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “This is the first Deepotsav after the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and every effort has been made to give grandeur and divinity to this program.”
