The war could end tomorrow if…: Netanyahu’s message after killing of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar

Tel Aviv: Hours after Israel confirmed the killing of Hamas chief and mastermind of the October 7 attacks Yahya Sinwar, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the people of Gaza, saying that the war could end tomorrow if Hamas agrees to lay down its arms and return the hostages.

Sharing a video on Twitter, Netanyahu said, “Yahya Sinwar is dead. He was shot dead by brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces in Rafah. While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it is the beginning of the end. I have a simple message for the people of Gaza – this war can end tomorrow. It can only end if Hamas lays down its arms and returns our hostages.”

The Israel Defense Forces revealed on Thursday that Sinwar along with two other terrorists have been killed by Israel.

Netanyahu revealed that Hamas currently holds 101 people hostage in Gaza, including citizens of 23 different countries, including Israel.

He said, “Hamas is holding 101 people hostage in Gaza, who are citizens of 23 countries, citizens of Israel, but also citizens of many other countries. Israel is committed to doing everything in its power to bring them all back. Israel will guarantee the safety of all those who return our hostages.”

The Israeli Prime Minister issued a stern warning to Israeli hostage-takers, saying that Israel will relentlessly pursue them and bring them to justice.

“But for those who seek to harm our hostages, I have another message – Israel will pursue them and bring them to justice. I also offer a message of hope to the people of the region – the axis of terror created by Iran is collapsing before our eyes,” he said.

In his message, Netanyahu also highlighted the elimination of key Hezbollah leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah, and stressed that the reign of terror imposed by the Iranian regime on its people and the people in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen “will come to an end.”

“Nasrallah is gone, his deputy Mohsen is gone, Haniyeh is gone, Deif is gone, Sinwar is gone. The reign of terror imposed by the Iranian regime on its people and the people in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen will also come to an end,” Netanyahu said. He further added, “All people who want a future of prosperity and peace in the Middle East must unite to build a better future. Together, we can push back the forces of darkness and build a future of light and hope for all of us.”

Hamas carried out a horrific terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. About 2,500 militants breached the Israeli border from the Gaza Strip, killing more than 1,200 people, including citizens of more than 30 countries, and taking more than 250 hostage.

In response, Israel launched a strong counter-attack in the Gaza Strip, while vowing to “completely eliminate” Hamas.

However, mounting civilian losses have raised global concerns over the humanitarian situation in the Strip. The United Nations and other major countries have repeatedly called for a ceasefire, the return of hostages and increased aid to the civilian population in Gaza.
