Tata Motors had the Nexon crash tested at the India NCAP facility, and the results were positive. The sub-compact SUV scored five stars in both adult and child safety tests. It had previously scored a full five-star rating in Global NCAP with this new generation. The previous-generation Nexon was also the first Tata vehicle to earn five stars in Global NCAP. It was tested alongside the recently launched Tata Curvv ICE and Curvv EV, both of which scored the same 5-star rating. Earlier this year, the Nexon EV also scored a 5-star rating.

The domestic India NCAP tested the top-spec Nexon Fearless, but the ratings applies to the entire variant lineup. It scored 29.41 out of 32 for adult passenger protection and 43.83 out of 49 for child passenger protection. The Tata Nexon offered good and adequate protection to passengers in all tests, including the frontal offset deformable barrier test, side movable deformable barrier test, and side pole impact test. India NCAP crash tests have come into effect only last year. The first cars tested were the Tata Harrier and Safari.

The Tata Nexon recently got a new CNG variant. It gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a twin-cylinder CNG tank, offering a boot space of 321 litres. The CNG variants are priced between ₹ 8.99 lakh and ₹ 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Nexon competes with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
