Royal Enfield Classic Electric Motorcycle to Launch in November 2024
Royal Enfield has released a teaser on its social media handle, revealing that it will introduce its first electric motorcycle on November 4, 2024, just a day before EICMA 2024 begins.
Royal Enfield is all set to unveil its first electric motorcycle on November 4, 2024, just a day before EICMA 2024 begins. And of course, the motorcycle will be showcased at EICMA as well. Back in July 2024, we had reported that design patents of RE’s first electric motorcycle have been leaked. Our guess is that this could be a concept electric motorcycle and will form the basis of a production motorcycle when launched.
As per the design patent, the motorcycle is a modern classic with a unique, bobber-style retro design. The patent image reveals quite a bit about the EV. First, the frame goes up and goes over the ‘fuel tank’, which is likely to house some storage space. Secondly, the battery pack and motor appear to be integrated, with the whole package being a stressed member. The rear wheel is driven via a belt drive. While the image shows a single seat, the addition of a saree guard means that there will be an optional pillion seat on the motorcycle. The most interesting detail is that the image shows the use of girder forks, which were used in motorcycles more than 100 years ago.
The rear section is likely to get an aluminium swingarm and a monoshock is hidden inside as well. The tyres on the motorcycle seem to be thin to maximise rolling efficiency and agility. But again, all this is just speculation right now. The actual product may differ from the patent image. Internally, the motorcycle is called the ‘Electric01’ and we can see that the motorcycle will go into production in a year or a year and a half from now and will be introduced in the market in early 2026.
