Speaker issues privilege breach notice to MP Harsh Mahajan
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has issued a privilege breach notice against BJP Rajya Sabha member Harsh Mahajan. The action comes after Mahajan allegedly made personal remarks during a recent visit to Chamba, in which he accused Pathania of misbehaviour.

In the notice, Pathania asserted that Mahajan’s allegations are false and it is an insult to the dignity of the Speaker and the House. Exercising his constitutional right, the Speaker demanded that Mahajan substantiate his claims with evidence, and asked him to clarify which “Pathania” he referred to in his derogatory remarks and in what context.
The notice stressed that the Rajya Sabha MP must respond to the allegations and produce evidence in support of his allegations. Failure to do so would be a breach of privilege of the Assembly, Pathania said.
The development marks an escalation of tensions, with the Speaker defending the integrity of his office and demanding accountability for the baseless allegations.
