Shimla, September 20: Taking a significant step towards advancing digital governance in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, organised its first awareness and sensitisation workshop on user experience and design systems. The workshop, held at IT Bhawan, Shimla, was aimed at promoting user-friendly design practices in public services.

Dr. Nipun Jindal, Director, Digital Technology and Governance, emphasised on the need for a user-centric approach to enhance public service delivery. He underlined that making digital platforms more accessible and efficient for citizens is the state’s priority. “Our goal is to ensure that the services we provide are effective and easy to navigate and use,” said Dr. Jindal.

During the workshop, key topics such as user experience (UX) principles, design adoption and implementation of UX4G design systems were discussed. A practical demonstration and case study on the state’s eDistrict portal gave participants a chance to see how these principles can be applied in real-world scenarios.

Dr. Jindal also noted the importance of future workshops, and suggested practical sessions to further develop user experience best practices. He said these sessions will play a key role in adopting UX design on the state’s digital platforms.
