Shimla, September 13: In the ongoing Sanjauli illegal mosque case in Shimla, police have lodged four FIRs after thousands of people gathered for a protest despite Section 163 being imposed. The 43 accused include several prominent personalities, including the former mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation. The charges include illegal demonstration, attacking and injuring police personnel and inciting violence against a particular community.

The protest took place in Sanjauli market area, where protesters clashed with the police. Police have released a video of protesters pelting stones, which is being used to identify those involved in the violent incidents.

Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the incident and said, “The protesters attacked the police personnel, forcing us to take necessary measures to maintain law and order. A case has been registered against those involved in the illegal demonstration and attack on police officials and further investigation is underway.”
