Tension prevails in Sanjauli, protesters break barricades and reach mosque site, lathicharge, one injured

Shimla, September 11: On Wednesday, people of Hindu society were seen indignant over illegal construction of mosque in Sanjauli, a suburb of Shimla. Despite section 163 being implemented in Sanjauli, Hindu organizations took to the streets and protested. This made the atmosphere tense here. The protesters broke the barricades put up by the police in the Dhali tunnel adjacent to Sanjauli and are moving towards the disputed mosque site. During this, there was a clash between the protesters and the police and the police also resorted to lathicharge. A policeman has been injured in the clash between the protesters and the police.
Till the last news, protesters are reaching near the mosque site. The police is trying hard to drive them away. For this, water cannons were fired. The atmosphere in Sanjauli area has become tense due to the gathering of protesters. The protesters are being monitored through drone cameras. The police has completely sealed the disputed mosque site.
In view of the tension in Sanjauli, the traders have closed their shops in Sanjauli market. Earlier at 11 am, some protesters reached Sanjauli and raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Jai Shri Ram. However, the police chased away the protesters.
Former General Secretary of Hindu Jagran Manch Kamal Gautam, who reached Sanjauli along with his supporters, has been taken into custody by the police. Kamal Gautam said that keeping in mind the sentiments of the Hindu society, I have reached Sanjauli in their support and efforts are being made to suppress the voice of Hindus. Some people reached Sanjauli under the banner of Civil Society and started raising slogans. But the police chased them away. The district police has deployed all the six battalions of the state in Sanjauli.
