Mandi, September 10: People of Hindu organizations have become vocal about the mosque located on Jail Road in Mandi city. Today, people associated with various Hindu organizations took out a protest rally in Mandi city and staged a sit-in outside the Municipal Corporation office. During this, people expressed their protest by singing bhajans and demanded immediate demolition of the mosque built on Jail Road. People of Hindu organizations say that the mosque built on Jail Road is an illegal construction and it has been built on the land of Public Works Department. Therefore, it should be demolished with immediate effect.
Convenor of Hindu Jagran Manch District Mandi, Gulshan said that despite the corporation having full information about this, no action is being taken, which is a matter of concern and due to this, people of Hindu organizations have come out on the streets today. Local resident Gopal Kapoor clarified that this is not a fight between Hindus and Muslims. The Waqf Board is trying to usurp many properties, which is wrong. Today, the Waqf Board has taken over many government properties in Mandi city. They have given two days’ time to the corporation management. If the illegal construction is not demolished in two days, then people will again be forced to take to the streets and stage violent protests, for which the corporation management will be solely responsible.
When Municipal Corporation Mandi Commissioner HS Rana was talked to about this, he said that the mosque has not received the NOC from the Public Works Department because some part of the mosque is built on the land of the Public Works Department. For this reason, the Municipal Corporation has not passed its map.
A notice was issued by the corporation to the mosque management that no work should be done there, despite this construction has been done there. Now a five-member committee has been formed for this entire matter, which will submit its report in two days. Further action will be taken on the basis of the report.
