Mandi: 87 boxes of illegal liquor recovered from tempo, consignment was brought from Bilaspur

Mandi, 04 September: The Mandi team of the State Tax and Excise Department has caught the tempo driver with 87 boxes of liquor being brought illegally. The department team has taken this action on the basis of secret information. It is being told that this consignment of illegal liquor was being brought from Bilaspur. After catching the accused tempo driver along with the vehicle, the department team has handed over him to the police for further action.

Mandi State Tax and Excise Commissioner Manoj Dogra said that the department had received secret information that illegal liquor was being delivered to Mandi district from other districts. On which the department team took action and last night a check post was set up near Pulgharat in Mandi city on Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. During the check post, the department’s team stopped a tempo driver coming from Sundernagar for checking and a huge consignment of illegally transported liquor was recovered from it.

The departmental officials asked the driver for documents and permits related to carrying the liquor, but the driver could not produce any documents. After which the department took this illegal liquor into its possession. 70 boxes of Desi, 17 boxes of Royal Stag and 3 boxes of beer were found in the seized liquor.

Mandi District State Tax and Excise Deputy Commissioner Manoj Dogra said that this action has been taken on the basis of secret information. In which a total of 87 boxes of illegal liquor have been seized.

Meanwhile, ASP Mandi Sagar Chandra has confirmed the case. He said that the Sadar police station team is taking action in the case as per the rules.
