Shimla, 02 September: Employees of Rogi Kalyan Samiti in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital are on a full day strike from today. These employees are angry due to the non-fulfillment of the demand for regular pay scale. Due to the strike, hundreds of patients who came to the hospital had to face problems. There are queues at the slip counter in IGMC since Monday morning. Patients have to wait for their turn by standing in queues for hours at the slip and cash counter.
Rogi Kalyan Samiti President Arvind Pal said that their strike will continue throughout the day until their demand for regular pay scale is met by the government. He said that RKS employees will be present only at the emergency slip counter. No emergency patient will face any problem. There are no RKS employees at the registration counter, slip counter and cash counter in any other OPD.
Arvind Pal said that in IGMC, regular pay scale has been given to 36 RKS employees in the year 2016 and then to one employee in the year 2019 on the basis of government notification. In the year 2021, 55 employees have completed 8 years of tenure under RKS, but the government is not giving regular pay scale. The government should issue a notification to give regular pay scale to 55 RKS employees on the lines of the year 2016. He said that the strike will continue indefinitely until the demands are met.
