French scientists brief Governor on Acropix project
A team of four French scientists from INRAE, led by Prof. Allison Marie Loconto, on Friday met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and discussed the Acropix project, which aims to promote ecological farming methods like natural farming.
 
																								
												
												
											Shimla, August 30: A team of four French scientists from INRAE, led by Prof. Allison Marie Loconto, on Friday met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and discussed the Acropix project, which aims to promote ecological farming methods like natural farming. The team is on a three-week visit to explore possibilities of innovative work at Dr. Y.S. Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University, Nauni in Solan district.
The Governor highlighted the enthusiasm of Himachal Pradesh farmers towards natural farming and said that more than 1.5 lakh farmers of the state have adopted this method. He praised the university’s pioneering efforts in certification and sustainability initiatives and agroecology.
The Acropix project, funded by the European Commission, involves 15 members from 13 countries. During their visit, the French scientists will interact with the university researchers and inspect the fields. They will also interact with progressive farmers and natural farming companies to gain knowledge about implementing natural farming methods globally.
