Shimla, August 27: Radiator of a government bus running on Jhanjiri route of Shimla’s suburb Khalini burst on Tuesday morning. Due to this the bus broke down and smoke spread all over the bus. This created panic among the passengers. Passengers were seen getting down from the bus and running away.
In fact, on Tuesday morning at around 9 am, when the bus was going back from Jhanjiri to Shimla on Shimla Jhanjiri route, the radiator of the bus burst while climbing the hill in Jhanjiri itself. Due to which the bus was filled with smoke. Passengers got scared due to the spread of smoke in the bus. After the radiator burst, the bus broke down and stopped there. People sitting in the bus had to face a lot of trouble. On getting the information, the people standing ahead waiting for the bus had to reach the main road Khalini on foot. They had to take the bus from there to reach their destinations.
According to the local people, apart from the HRTC taxis that ply on this route to Mall Road, only HRTC buses run from time to time for public service. Due to which these buses are the main means of transportation for the local people and people keep waiting for them. But HRTC is running old buses on this route and they keep breaking down frequently, due to which people have to face a lot of problems.
