I will not allow the government treasury to be looted for political gains: Chief Minister
“I will not let the government treasury be looted for political gain. Subsidy on electricity and water will not be given to the rich people and it is being rationalized by the government, so that the poor person gets the benefit. The steps taken by the government are improving the economy of the state. The economy has improved by twenty percent in one year. GST collection has also improved in Himachal Pradesh.”
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
Shimla, August 21: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu participated in a program organized late Tuesday evening in Solan on the completion of 100 years of Jogindra Cooperative Bank and unveiled the new ‘logo’ of the bank. He dedicated the new building of the bank constructed at a cost of Rs 7.50 crore to the public. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the officers and employees of Jogindra Bank on the turnover of Rs 2 thousand crore and said that the employees of any bank are the backbone of that institution. He said that the total NPA of the bank has come down from eight percent to three percent.
While praising the employees of Jogindra Bank, he said that the deposit of the bank has increased to Rs 1400 crore but there is a need to improve the one-time settlement policy of the bank. He stressed the need to encourage the branches of the bank doing better work by honoring them. Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that out of every Rs 100 spent by the present state government this financial year, Rs 25 is being spent on salary, Rs 17 on pension, Rs 11 on interest, Rs 9 on loan repayment, Rs 10 on grants to autonomous institutions and the remaining Rs 28 on capital expenditure and other activities.
He said that the revenue deficit grant received by Himachal Pradesh has also reduced. In the year 2021-22, the state government used to get Rs 10 thousand crore as grant, whereas in the year 2025-26 this grant will be reduced to three thousand crore rupees, but despite this, the vision of the present state government is to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by changing the system.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “I will not let the government treasury be looted for political gain. Subsidy on electricity and water will not be given to the rich people and it is being rationalized by the government, so that the poor person gets the benefit. The steps taken by the government are improving the economy of the state. The economy has improved by twenty percent in one year. GST collection has also improved in Himachal Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister said that despite the present state government inheriting a debt of Rs 75 thousand crore and outstanding liabilities of Rs 10 thousand crore from the previous BJP government, in its tenure of 20 months, the state government has provided seven percent dearness allowance to the employees and this year arrears will be paid to 28 thousand pensioners above 75 years of age. He said that government employees are like my family members. It will take six more months to stabilize the economy of the state. Arrears and dearness allowance will be provided when the economy of the state comes back on track.
Earlier, the Chairman of the bank Mukesh Sharma welcomed Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and gave detailed information about the activities of the bank. He said that the bank is providing loans to the people of the state at low interest rates. At present, 33 branches of the bank are functioning and the bank is paying special attention to the expansion of its work. The bank management also presented cheques of Rs 15 lakh for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 11 lakh for the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Fund to the Chief Minister.
