Shimla, August 16: Befriending an unknown person on social media proved so costly for a girl that the accused robbed her of her dignity. Actually, the accused first lured the girl with the promise of marriage and then called her to another state and raped her. When the accused refused to marry, the girl filed an FIR against him and demanded action. The victim is a resident of Shimla, while the accused is a resident of Delhi.
The victim has registered a case of rape against the accused in a police station in Shimla city. The accused youth works in Delhi and he called the girl to Zirakpur adjacent to Chandigarh for marriage and raped her. Shimla police has filed a report under Zero FIR and transferred the case to Zirakpur police. Now Zirakpur police of Punjab will investigate and take action in this case.
According to the case, the victim had met a man from Delhi some time ago through social media and both started talking on the phone. Their friendship grew and turned into a love affair. They planned to get married. The girl alleges that the accused called her to Zirakpur on the pretext of marriage. The victim left for Zirakpur from Shimla to meet the boy. The accused took the girl to a rented room in Zirakpur and raped her forcibly. When the girl asked him to marry her soon, the accused refused. After this, the girl complained to the Shimla police.
A case has been registered against the accused under section 376 of the IPC. According to Shimla police, after preliminary investigation on the victim’s complaint, a case of rape has been registered on Thursday and it has been sent to the Zirakpur police.
