Shimla, August 14: As part of Independence Day celebrations, a two-day photo exhibition commemorating the heroic victory of the Kargil War was inaugurated at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla. Organized to commemorate the 78th Independence Day and the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay, the exhibition was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. D.S. Kushwaha, Chief of Staff, Military Training Command, Shimla.

Organized by Central Bureau of Communication, Shimla, under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, the exhibition pays a touching pictorial tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War. The exhibition has attracted a lot of interest from visitors, youth and military enthusiasts, eager to connect with the powerful visual narrative of the conflict.

NCC cadets were specially invited to participate in the exhibition and a slogan-writing competition was organized for them. Cadet Bishan Thakur secured the first position, followed by Cadet Mamta Mehra in second and Cadet Anshika Bhatia in third place. Chief Guest Lt. Gen. Kushwaha presented the prizes to the winners and while addressing the cadets urged them to carry forward the glorious tradition of valour of the Indian Army and consider making a career in the Army.

Incharge of the Central Communication Bureau, Shimla, Prakash Pant said that the main objective of the exhibition is to increase public awareness about the Kargil war and honour the valour of the soldiers through an impressive visual presentation.

This exhibition not only reminds of the sacrifices made by the heroes of the nation but also inspires the younger generation to honour and remember the legacy of Kargil victory.
