Nahan, 09 August: 24-year-old Pankaj Chauhan of Jamta of Nahan development block of Himachal Pradesh has written an inspirational story. He has not only secured the second position in the entire state in the jail warder examination, but has also become the second member of the family to get the job in several generations. Pankaj has secured the second position by securing 90 percent marks out of 100. While Suraj of Mandi district has secured the second position with 93 marks.
Uncle had got the job of a fourth class employee. Born to mason Albel Singh and Roshni Devi, 24-year-old Pankaj was disappointed when he failed in the Police Constable recruitment by just 0.16 marks. After two years of diploma in JBT, Pankaj obtained Bachelor of Vocational degree from Nahan Degree College. Pankaj was also selected for the post of conductor in Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). But now Pankaj’s first choice is the post of jail warder.
While on one hand the young generation is sinking into the pit of drugs, youths like Pankaj are also an example. Despite the adverse financial conditions of the house, he had the desire to achieve something. Pankaj was asked if he would continue preparing for competitive exams even after this… In response to this, Pankaj said with a choked voice, ‘At present, this job is suitable, because I have to support the family.’ However, after elder brother Neeraj got a private job, the situation at home became somewhat balanced, but the problems still persist.
In a conversation with Local News Network, Pankaj told that he studied from first to tenth in HVN Jamta school. After this, he completed his 12th from Government Senior Secondary School Jamta and then completed his graduation from Nahan. During this time, he kept preparing for the exams continuously.
On being asked about the question paper for the jail warder, Pankaj said that there was a problem. The questions were tricky instead of being straightforward. He said that along with the family, close ones kept helping at every step. This job meant a lot to me.
