Shimla, July 30: Himachal Pradesh has launched a statewide online family registration system, a significant change from the traditional manual process. The initiative was inaugurated by rural development and panchayati raj minister Anirudh Singh at a two-day state-level workshop at the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration at Fairlawn in Mashobra.
Names have been entered manually in the Panchayat family register since the formation of the Panchayat system. Though the online registration process was started some time ago, it was officially implemented in all panchayats on Monday.
During the workshop, Minister Singh also launched several digital initiatives including the Online Family Register Module, Online Proceedings Register Mobile Application and Learning Management System. These tools are aimed at streamlining administrative processes and increasing efficiency within the Panchayati Raj Department.
“With the implementation of these digital tools, the process of manual registration in the Panchayati Raj department has been completely stopped,” Singh said. “Now, just like the processes of the revenue department, the process of adding names, deleting names and making corrections in the family register will be completely online. Residents will have to upload their documents digitally.”
Departmental secretary Priyatu Mandal presented a detailed description of both the central and state-funded schemes during the event, emphasizing the benefits of the new online systems. This shift to a completely online system is expected to bring in more transparency, reduce administrative burden and provide easy access to residents across the state.
