Himachal News: Nephew killed aunt due to land dispute, two arrested

Bilaspur, July 21: Land dispute in Ward No. 7 (Seu) of Nagar Panchayat Talai of Jhanduta subdivision of Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh took away the happiness of a family. Due to the dispute, the nephew killed his aunt. Jhanduta police has arrested the accused nephew and the woman’s brother-in-law. Jhanduta police has identified the deceased woman as Roshni Devi.

The entire incident took place on Saturday. The deceased woman’s son-in-law Jeevan Kumar, resident of village Chhaproh, post office Harsaur, tehsil Barsar, Hamirpur, told the police in his statement that he had come to his in-laws’ place Talai. In the evening, his wife Veena Devi, sister-in-law Bhutto Devi and mother-in-law Roshni Devi were clearing the weeds on the beed in their house. At the same time, the deceased woman’s maternal uncle-in-law Prakash Chand started throwing stones at her. When the woman started screaming, her uncle’s son Dalip Singh brought an iron rod and hit Roshni Devi on the head.

Roshni Devi fell unconscious on the ground. The woman was taken to Barthin Hospital for treatment, where the doctor declared Roshni Devi dead.

DSP Headquarters Madan Dhiman said that the police have arrested the accused Dalip Singh and the woman’s brother-in-law Prakash Chand. Further investigation of the case is underway.
