Solan, July 19: There is news of a Punjab Roadways bus accident on Shimla-Kalka highway in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh last Thursday night. At around 9.00 pm, near Sanwara toll plaza under Dharampur police station, Punjab Roadways bus number PB-02-EG-9524 hit a tipper from behind.

The Punjab Roadways bus was going from Chandigarh to Shimla. The accident happened when the bus driver hit the tipper while overtaking at high speed and carelessly. Due to the accident, 15 out of 25-30 passengers sitting in the Punjab Roadways bus have suffered serious injuries, after which all the injured were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to the information, 13 injured passengers are being treated in Dharampur, while 2 injured have been referred to the Regional Hospital Solan.

During the investigation and after questioning the passengers sitting in the bus, it has been found that the accident happened due to the bus driver’s speeding, negligence and overtaking. On this, a case has been registered in Dharmpur police station under section 281,125 BNS.

During the investigation of the entire case, the accused bus driver Gurjeet Singh (35 years), son Mahendra Singh, resident of village Madi Mega, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran has been arrested. SP Gaurav Singh confirmed that interrogation of the accused is going on, the case is being investigated on every aspect on priority basis.
