Una, July 14: A unique incident of cow theft has come to light in Rakkar Colony of Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Local residents Kesar Singh and Lakhbir Singh, who used to bring their cows to the village pasture for grazing every day, had also reached there with their cows on Saturday evening.
Kesar Singh had to go out for some personal work and he asked Lakhbir Singh to take care of the cows. Meanwhile, Lakhbir Singh saw that some people, including a woman, were trying to run away after loading the cows in a vehicle. With the help of the local people, they were stopped, after which a large number of people gathered at the spot and a ruckus started.

Complainant Kesar Singh and other locals said that incidents of cattle theft have taken place in this area earlier as well. Among those arrested, the woman identified herself as Sulindra Devi, a resident of Samur Khurd, while the two youths accompanying her, Vikramjit Singh and Sunil Kumar, are her sons. The accused had hired a vehicle belonging to a driver named Balram Singh, a resident of nearby village Barnoh, to take the cows away and had loaded two cows in their vehicle.
Locals say that these people have been seen roaming around in this area earlier also with a vehicle to steal cows.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police took immediate action and arrested the three accused. The police is investigating the case and other aspects related to it are also being investigated.
