The HIV Diagnostic Laboratory under the Department of Microbiology of IGMC Shimla has now become the first laboratory in Himachal Pradesh to get recognition from the National Accreditation Board
Shimla, June 25: Himachal Pradesh Health Secretary M Sudha Devi told in Shimla that the HIV Diagnostic Laboratory under the Department of Microbiology, IGMC, Shimla has now become the first laboratory in Himachal Pradesh to get recognition from the National Accreditation Board.
Giving complete information, M Sudha Devi said that the HIV Diagnostic Laboratory of the Department of Microbiology, IGMC, Shimla, operating under the Himachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, has met the requirements of ISO 15189:2012 NABL 112 with the certificate provided by the National Accreditation Board (NABL) on May 27, 2024.
Giving information, M Sudha Devi said that the HIV Diagnostic Laboratory of the Department of Microbiology, IGMC, Shimla is providing high level of quality high standards healthcare services and this certification by NABL shows that the HIV Diagnostic Laboratory is ensuring quality, reliability and reproducibility.

M Sudha Devi said that the National Accreditation Board (NABL) for Training and Calibration is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India, which includes third party evaluation of the laboratory for technical proficiency of training.
M Sudha Devi said that NABL accreditation is important for HIV diagnostic laboratories, as it ensures compliance with international standards of quality capability.
NABL accreditation strengthens the reliability and accuracy of diagnostic results which is important for effective patient management and public health strategies.
M Sudha Devi said that it also increases the credibility of the capabilities of the HIV diagnostic laboratory among patients, healthcare providers and regulatory bodies.
Moreover, NABL accreditation facilitates participation in national and international programs and promotes continuous improvement and robust quality management system.
NABL accreditation supports HIV diagnostic laboratories in maintaining high quality practices and also plays a vital role in controlling and restricting the HIV epidemic.
