The official online tool of the Income Tax Department gives you complete authority to correctly verify any notice or order received. This tool is a free service available to all, irrespective of whether you are registered on the e-filing portal or not.

Learn how to use this great tool:

 

  1. Visit Income Tax e-filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
  2. Under Quick Links, click on Certify Notice/Order issued by ITD.
  3. Choose one of two verification methods:

    Using PAN: Enter your PAN, document type (notice, order, etc.), assessment year, date of issue and your mobile number (to receive one-time password).
    Using DIN: Enter the Document Identification Number (DIN) mentioned on the notice and your mobile number for OTP verification.

  4. Enter the received OTP and click on Continue.

     

  5. The tool will immediately confirm if the notice is genuine. If not, you’ll know it’s safe to ignore it.
